Rhett received a shipment of this new magazine today. 43 Magazine.  Its a pretty cool zine with really good photos, and a super rad layout.  it almost feels like a crappy copy and paste zine, but with really good photos.

I've decided to start posting rad video parts up here once or twice a week.  Parts that get me hyped and hopefully will get others hyped as well.  This is Dave Caddo's part from the Anonymous video 'working on community relations.'  Plus I love the Toots and the Maytals song!

A good friend of mine is working for the I.U. school of medicine doing a study to see where education about sexually transmitted infections is needed the most.  The study is aimed at men from ages 17-24.  Rhett Skateboarding will be helping in the study by providing a venue for the testing to take place.  For one to be involved in the study they must be a male, age 17-24.  In order for participating in the study one will receive a $20 gift card to Rhett Skateboarding.  To participate in the study, you will have to take a s.t.i. test involving urinating in a cup, and filling out a short form.
This is a great way to get involved in helping out the Bloomington community and helping to raise awareness of sexually transmitted infections/diseases.  If anyone is interested you can call here at the shop for more details (812)336-9321.
Testing will happen on Saturday Sept. 24 from 1-5 here at the skateshop.  If you would like to schedule an appointment on another date you can call 812-266-1978 for more details.

Some Contest Details

I know folks are getting hyped about the contest.  People have been asking me what it is going to consist of so here is whats up!
There will be 3 options of which skill class to sign up for: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced
Beginner division will go first, then intermediate, and finally advanced.
Each person will get one 1 minute run. they will be judged on style, creativity, difficulty and use of the park.
the score will be 1-5.
after everyone goes,  the top 5  will advance on to the finals...then those top three will be winners of each division.
the award ceremony will be after everyone has gone.. probably around 4 or 5.

So some houses got destroyed.......that sucks, but all the crazy weather has uprooted some new skate spots here in Bloomington!

The Grand opening for the newest skateboard shop in
Bloomington will be on Monday May 30th from 12pm to 7pm.

Rhett Skateboarding had a great first weekend.  The first Thursday sesh at the park was super fun. Its really exciting to see everyone come out and support the scene.  Friday was Rhett's first day of business, and so many people came out to say hey or get some stuff..it was so good!
I basically just want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone in Bloomington, and beyond, who has helped me in any way or come out to support Bloomington skateboarding.  I seriously couldn't have done any of this with out your help!
I want to especially thank Ryan Smith, Buddy Best, and Joe Hughes.  Their support and friendship has really gotten the shop to where it is now.  THANK YOU!
